The Moon Lake Gathering is an annual conference and community event held in Duchesne, Utah, focused on mysteries, hidden history, adventure, and unconventional discoveries. Billed as a “Conference of Mysteries,” it brings together enthusiasts, researchers, storytellers, and explorers interested in topics such as:
—Lost treasures (including Spanish gold, Aztec legends,
and regional caches like those tied to the Kanab area or
“3 Lakes”)
–Ancient American history and alternative archaeology
–Paranormal phenomena (Bigfoot sightings, giants in
America, UFOs)
–Cryptids, curses, and obscure historical artifacts
The event typically spans three days (Thursday through Saturday) in mid-August, with the upcoming 2026 edition scheduled for August 13–15, 2026 at the Centennial Event Center in Duchesne, Utah. Programming includes:
–Keynote speakers and presentations sharing rare stories,
research, and alleged artifacts
–Breakout sessions and workshops (in multiple
rooms)
–Open mic nights, meet-and-greets, and informal
discussions
–Opportunities to connect with like-minded people from across
the country
Past gatherings (such as the well-documented 2025 event held August 14–16) have featured speakers on subjects ranging from Spanish treasure codes and Native American legends to investigative reporting on American historical enigmas. Admission is free, but donations are welcome and much appreciated.
In essence, the Moon Lake Gathering serves as a gathering place for those drawn to the fringes of history, treasure hunting, and the unexplained—where rare knowledge is shared, secrets are debated, and new friendships form around tales most people never hear. More details, speaker announcements, and updates are typically posted via the event’s official website (moonlakegathering.com) and associated social media channels.

About the Organizers
Mark Robinson is the force behind this event. Mark has organized and held what was originally known as The Morgan Pow Wow for over 25 years now. Originally held near Morgan, UT, the venue was moved to Altamont, UT in 2020 to be nearer to the source of the Lost Rhoades and Spanish Mines legends and the UFO phenomenon of the Uinta Basin. The name was then changed to The Moon Lake Gathering. It is now held in Duchesne, at the awesome Duchesne County Centennial Events Center. Mark has garnered a few helpers over the years as the event has grown: Kent Smith, Bryce Stringham, Terry Carter, Dave Bullock, David Jewkes, Greg Gardner, and Jon Madsen, to name a few.

Food Trailors & Vendors
There will be food trucks/trailers and vendors of all kinds at the event center. Food trucks/trailers will be located outside, and most vendors will be inside the arena. If you are a vendor and would like to sell at the event, please call Bob at 801-430-6780 or click the email link button. Vendor booths are $25 per day and food trucks are $50 per day.

It is in the Duchesne County Centennial Events Center at 60 West 400 South, Duchesne, UT 84021
It was originally called the Morgan Pow-wow and was held for 20 years near Morgan, Utah. The venue there became inaccessible and a new venue was sought.
Moon Lake plays a central part in the stories of the Lost Rhoades and Spanish Mines. There are also legends of the Moon Lake Monster that swims the cold depths of Moon Lake and the Ghost Girl who haunts the shores of Moon Lake in her soaking wet dress with her soulful crying.
We had originally planned to hold the event at Moon Lake, but word got around and the event quickly got too big for the venue there so it was moved to Altamont City Park for a time, then finally to the event center in Duchesne
Yes. There are camping spots with electrical, water, and sewer hookups and some with just power for rent. Go to http://www.duchesneevents.com/facilities/ to book your spot. There is also ample free camping with no amenities that can be had on a first-come-first serve basis on the west side of the river next to the event center.
Yes. Food vendors are there all three days with lots of yummy food and drinks.
It is free! We do incur expenses to put on this event every year and we have been able to get by on donations so far. These generous donations have allowed us to keep the event free. If you would like to contribute to the cause, please plan to donate in the buckets at the event.
